5-17-04 There announces a violent item survey for members to participate in.
    ____________________________________
The purpose of thi survey is to measure the community?s feelings on the approval of items with varying degrees of ?violence,? and use that information to revise our current approval guidelines. Our current approval guidelines state ?Objects must be consistent with the playful and fun-loving nature of There and must not be of a violent nature or theme. For example, no guns.?

We have received feedback from the community that this description is not specific enough, and that there may be certain items that we have rejected in the past for being too ?violent? which we should reconsider.

We understand that the perception of ?violence? in any given item is subjective, and we would like to get a feel for how you perceive various items so we can revise our guidelines accordingly, to ensure that the community is receiving the products they want, while maintaining the playful, fun-loving nature of There.

Note: Your answers below will not result in items which were previously approved being removed from game. They will only influence future approval decisions.

How do you feel about violent items in There?

    - All items should be approved, regardless of content.
    - Extremely violent items should be rejected, but all others should be approved.
    - Mildly violent items are ok, but all others should be rejected.
    - No violent items should be approved.
    - It should be decided on a case by case basis, by There.
    - I dont care one way or the other.

Please rate the following categories of items, in terms of their level of violence. 1 being not violent at all, 5 being moderately violent, 10 being extremely violent.

    - Clothing with blood.
    - Clothing with historical weaponry painted on, such as swords.
    - Clothing with modern weaponry painted on, such as guns.

    - Vehicles with blood on them.

Based on your rankings above (1-10), what number level of violence do you feel should be the cutoff for approvals?

Which of the following describes your thoughts on violent items in There? Check all that apply.

    - Playfully violent items could add to the fun in There.
    - Only overtly, offensively violent items should be rejected.
    - It should be up to the approvers to decide what is a ?fun? kind of violent and what is a ?bad? kind of violent.
    - There should be strict, specific rules which dictate what kind of ?violent? items are accepted.
    - Violent items will make There feel unwelcoming, and take away from its fun playful nature; therefore, I think all violent items should be rejected.

Which of the following changes made to an item, in your opinion, would reduce the ?violence? of an item which is made to look like modern weaponry? Check all that apply.

    - A disclaimer in the description, stating that it is a replica and cannot actually be used.
    - A cartoony look, created by brightly-colored paint or exaggerated scale.
    - Something which visually indicates that a ?weapon? is unusable, such as a cork in the tip of a gun.
    - An item which is clearly undersized or over-sized, such as a fighter-jet hoverboard.
    - The above shouldn?t matter, because all modern weaponry should be approved, since we know it is all currently unusable in There.
    - None of the above, modern weaponry should never be allowed.
